Alexandre Meneghini – Brazilian/Italian Photographer

Born in 1974, Brazil, began his career working as a freelancer photographer after graduating in Geography and Business Administration. In 2002 he joined the Associated Press in Brazil. He was then assigned to Honduras, Guatemala and later on to Mexico where he lived for 7 years.

Working for The Associated Press for eleven years he had assignments in more than twenty countries where he worked closely with photo, text and TV editors to generate projects that added a dimension beyond the daily report and provide in-depth coverage of a variety of stories through multimedia storytelling. Being in close contact to the wire desk was constant, since coordinating and editing photos from a network of freelancers photographers was part of his daily work.

Meneghini has covered assignments ranging from daily life features, politics, sports, fashion, wildlife, natural disasters, epidemics, violence and armed conflicts in South, Central and North America, Caribe, North and West Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Part of his portfolio is displayed at the AP Images website and also in the Associated Press book: “Be Inspired”.

In 2013 he opted to leave the Associated Press to pursue new projects and became a freelancer photographer.

In 2014 he was given two scholarships in France, sponsored by the City Hall of Paris to develop artistic projects.

Since late 2014 he has been based in Havana, Cuba, working as full time freelancer for Reuters and responsible for generating and coordinating the photo coverage in the country.
