‘Banderillas’, literally meaning small flags, which are barbed sticks that are stuck on a bull’s flank to weaken him during a bullfight, are seen hanging prior to the start of a bullfight in Tulteplac, Mexico. Bullfighting planted its roots in Mexico shortly after the Spanish conquest in the 1500’s, and today, nowhere outside of Spain is bullfighting more popular than in Mexico.
